Injectable neuromodulators block the nerve impulses that cause muscles to contract. By blocking these signals, the muscle that is causing the wrinkle temporarily becomes paralyzed which = MAGIC! Here’s the catch, only dynamic lines (lines that are visible when you make expressions) can be treated. Once a line becomes static (visible when the face is at rest) it becomes harder to treat with neuromodulators and other treatments are typically needed. For this reason, preventative and maintenance injections are key!

A few changes occur with aging: bone resorption (bone loss), atrophy (wasting away) of some of the deep and superficial fat compartments, decreased production of hydrophilic (water loving) substances like hyaluronic acid by the extracellular matrix in our skin, and more. All these changes cause volume loss, decreased support, loss of hydration and plumpness, sagging of skin, etc.

Aside from the aging face, sometimes we see this volume and hydration loss simply from life stressors and/or genetic variability.

This is where dermal fillers come in to play. They are a soft gel-like substance made of hyaluronic acid and other naturally occurring agents. When injected beneath the skin in different depths, they can help restore lost volume, provide structural support, soften creases, enhance facial contours and provide hydration.

When injecting a natural dermal filler, results can last from 6 months+ depending on the bodies ability to break down the hyaluronic acid.

Lip enhancements are done using dermal filler. At FACE by SP we use a blended technique learned by two different lip masters: Snatched LA and Julie Horne. By remaining superficial we decrease risk of occlusion and are able to place the filler RIGHT where we want it. In addition, because we don’t penetrate the vermilion border (hollow straw that outlines your lips), risk for migration of filler decreases drastically.

Our technique creates crisp lip borders, increased vertical height, little to no projection (duck lips from profile view), hydration, proper top to bottom ratio, and the PERFECT POUT!

The dermal filler used is Restylane kysse for several reasons:

1. It is hydrophobic: attracts less water and therefore less chance of the “overfilled look”

2. It is XpresHAn Technology: a hyaluronic acid gel that is more flexible and integrates with your natural tissue better. This is key in such a mobile part of our face as we want the filler to be compatible with facial expressions!

Biostimulators are compounds that are injected into the deep layer of the skin called the dermis. PDO THREAD LIFT

We like to call this defying gravity!

At FACE by SP, we use MINT PDO threads which stands for Minimally Invasive Non-surgical Thread. It is a unique absorbable thread designed to lift tissue, both sagging and non-sagging. The thread is made from a complex sugar polydioxanone (PDO): a safe suture material that has been used in orthopedic and cardiovascular surgeries for over 30 years.

PDO threads are a great alternative to surgery. They provide an option with little to no risk of adverse reactions, minimal downtime, no scarring and no incision.

PDOSMOOTH THREADS

Smooth threads are a skin booster. They tighten and smooth the skin helping to minimize fine lines and wrinkles and build collagen and other structural proteins in the skin.

You'll begin to see the rejuvenating effects of smooth threads in about 4 weeks as the body produces new collagen. The skin will continue to tighten and smooth out for about 3 to 4 months. Typically, it takes 4 to 6 weeks for the threads to dissolve following the smooth thread procedure.
